About This Class

February 8th, 2026
3pm-5pm

Held at ArborVitae School in New Paltz, NY

In this immersive workshop, we’ll explore how herbal medicine can reconnect us with ancestral wisdom and support our health, autonomy, and self-empowerment. Many of us have lost direct lineage to herbal knowledge; through guided and creative practices, we’ll uncover how our ancestors may have worked with ceremonial, culinary, and medicinal plants.

Participants will engage in interactive exercises to access memories—real or imagined—of their lineage’s relationship with the plant world. Insights will be expressed through drawing, storytelling, movement, poetry, or song, then mapped onto a simple framework of herbal applications to observe ancestral patterns and themes. We’ll close with a communal tea-blending session so you can bring home a custom blend to support continued herbal ancestry work.

Participants should wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather, as this class will be held outdoors.

Attendees should bring:

  • A journal

  • A pen or pencil

  • Comfortable clothing for gentle movement

  • An open and curious heart

Tiered Investment

Two BIPOC scholarships are available upon request through January 26th.

We ask that you reach out by emailing [email protected] for more information.

How to Choose Your Tier

General Admission

This tier is at the market rate and reflects the true cost of the service, labor, and expertise of producing the workshop. This price point allows us to generate a profit for the teacher and the school. We encourage those with access to wealth to opt for this tier as it enables ArborVitae to offer more tickets at an accessible price.

Sustainable Admission

This tier reflects the cost of our service, labor, and expertise required to produce the workshop and allows us to make a small profit. We encourage those to opt for a Sustainable Ticket if the price point of a General Ticket is prohibitive.

Solidarity Admission

This ticket tier reflects our intention to make our workshops open for all! We want all members of our community to enjoy our educational opportunities  no matter their financial situation. Opt for the Solidarity ticket if General or Sustainable is not accessible to you right now.

Current ArborVitae Student & Alumni Admission

This tier is for current ArborVitae students and alumni that have successfully completed all 3 years and received their diploma.
